About Me -

The past, the present and the future...

As a child I would spend countless hours constructing houses, cityscapes and structures with Lego building blocks. Growing up, my uncle, also an architect would tell me about the profession and his accomplishments. My talent for art was recognized at an early age and nurtured during school. In middle school I was enrolled in an at home art school. My "amateur passion" for architecture grew and I knew I wanted to be an architect when I grew up.

During my senior year I was accepted to the University of Illinois at Champaign and the University of Illinois at Chicago. I chose Chicago since it had a better opportunity to provide an internship during school. My freshman year I was able to find an internship at Gensler. I handled working part time at an architecture firm and going to school full time, keeping good grades and providing dedicated service to my work. Learning how to balance school and work has taught me to handle multiple projects yet pay close attention to each job.

I believe in order to be a better architect we must draw experience from other sources. On the weekends, I volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. This “hands on” experience strengthens my understanding of the relationship between construction drawings and the built environment. This allows me to bring more to the table. I share what I experience in the construction field and offer valuable insight and provides many opportunities to learn and perfect problem solving skills, a must have skill in this industry.

The field of architecture continually evolves and I stay active with these trends. I am a LEED accredited professional with three specialties in Building Construction & Design, Interior Design & Construction and Homes. As Building Information Modeling breaks through and establishes itself as an industry "must have," I am an Autodesk ® Revit ® Architecture 2010 Certified Professional. I am also an Autodesk AutoCAD 2010 Certified Professional. I frequently attend AIA lectures, which provide insight on new technologies arising in the field, sustainable design and methods of improving current practices.

Looking to the future....My top goals for 2010 are to finish the Architectural Registration Examination and to run my fourth Chicago Marathon. My interests are sustainable design, architectural innovations, hospitality and residential design. I look forward to learning new aspects of design while further developing my current areas of experience in building code research, sustainable design knowledge and construction document production.
